Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is solfège?
It’s reading music and hearing it in your head before you play it, and hearing a melody and knowing how to write it down. It’s what turns you from someone who imitates and memorizes into someone who understands.
I play by ear and I’m happy — why would I need solfège?
Playing by ear is a wonderful gift, but it has a ceiling. You’ll play what you’ve heard, but you’ll get stuck when you want to understand why a song sounds good, write something of your own, or play a song and feel something is missing and it doesn’t sound like the original. Solfège and harmony are what break through that ceiling.
Is harmony only for composers?
No. Any player who knows harmony improvises better, memorizes faster, and understands why one chord follows another. It’s the difference between just playing, and playing while understanding, seeing, and hearing what the music is doing.
Can it prepare me for an entrance exam or an academy?
Yes. Tell me the institution and the exam level, and we’ll build a plan around exactly what’s required.
Are lessons in person or online?
Both: in person at your home in Riyadh, or online from anywhere.
